Re: C4 Transmission Changing up and groaning

Remember how it was all resolved? Well it came back again. Rebuilt it, new clutches, clutch band, bushes, several go's at getting the valve body to work and it's just about doing what it's supposed to now. I'll run it a bit more and see if it continues happily. It's like driving a different vehicle....

Re: Rebuild C4 or Insert an AOD?

I had it rebuilt in the end. Both clutches were burnt, both clutch bands were burnt, the pump gear was shot, various bushes and such were replaced, a shifter improving kit was installed and a couple of leaks sorted, new cooler lines. The remaining part that might need to be done is the valve body as...

Re: Thrumming noise...

Problem solved. The yoke at the end of the prop shaft was chewed to bits round it's shaft where it sits in the bushing. Really thrashed, Don't know why but I have distant recollections of my engine guy telling me when he swapped out the motor and then with everything else, I forgot. Came up as I've ...

72 E100 Supervan in the uk

This is my 72 E100 Supervan. I bought this when I shouldn't have then about two months later had to replace the motor, I'm about to have the transmission rebuilt because i think one of the clutch packs is burning out. It's got big disc's on the front and air shocks in the back, I've just upgraded th...

Re: Rebuild C4 or Insert an AOD?

Most helpful chaps. The dying of the tranny is possibly a clutch burning out. Carbon deposits inside the tranny being the sign. It has suffered with sticky valves extensively which hopefully now are sorted so it might be some sort of byproduct of that and might not recurr. If it does die, it means i...

Rebuild C4 or Insert an AOD?

OK, my tranny might be dying. All the claims of having been rebuilt seem like possible nonsense. So... I have two choices. Either I rebuild it or I try and upgrade it to an AOD. I should say now that spending a lot of cash isn't really an option at present, so I'm expecting the rebuild will be the b...

Re: Thrumming noise...

All that said though. The prop shaft has been off each time. If I have a one piece prop shaft is there a wrong way to reconnect it? I can't find specific reference to it in the shop manual but that's maybe not a surprise.

Re: Missing Kickdown

Wow that would be super cool! Let me know how much you would like for them and I'll add it to the total... Or if you have a wiring diagram I can make some up here... Thanks Spike.
